No Rest For The Wicked

I have been awake since 10:30 on Wednesday. It is now 3-something on Friday. Why the lack of sleep?

Blame Ikasu.

I had to work Wednesday night. And, thanks to the wonderful intervention of Fam, I was unable to pack beforeheand due to a lack of suitcase. So I got home at midnight, typed an e-mail, packed, and cleaned my room, then finally went to bed at 2:30 AM Thursday morning. I was due to be at the airport at 6.

Well. I was juuuuust drifting off around 3 AM when I notice the lights going on in the kitchen. Thanks to the damn glass wall every time lights go on in there my room lights up, too. I roll over sleepily to ignore it, but then I am jolted to full alertness by this CLANKING. And it hits me: Fam is unloading the dishwasher. At freaking 3AM. I got up, opened the door, and told her to stop. Fairly politely, for me, since I hate being woken up involuntarily above all other things. I said "I just fell asleep. Could you not bang the dishes around and maybe read a book or something?" She replied "I can't sleep." I say "Neither can I. Go figure. But see, I want to."

So then she goes off to do something moderately less loud, and I am left to be wide awake and completely freaking out about 'meeting' so many new people. I fall back asleep at 4 and catnap for an hour. Back fully awake at five, then more partial sleep until the alarm goes off at 6.

Off to the airport. I would have slept on the plane, but I was on a dual-propeller 10-seater hell-thing that whined too loudly for me to even be able to hear my mp3 player.

And of course I couldn't sleep during the day. There were people to meet and hang out with and torment an stuff.

And then the night, yeah, you'd think I could, but my last roommmate comes in at 4AM and he wants us to be awake to help him find stuff just in case. Stuff being the room.

And I have to be at the airport at 6AM to get Baron.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Victolly!

For a day that started with me running into the shower door, it went well. Except now that we're out of soup, I want it.

Happy Birthday, Abigale! Yes, a day late, but I just now realized it wasn't July 8th.

Old Post Up

Finally finished my rant about work. Scroll down. it's titled "Karma".

My Own Country

I'm Caff. For those who don't know. Vass is an Aussie. Let the witty banter begin.

Vass: oh, out of curiosity, which are you? puritan or religious nutjob? Since I'm apparently a criminal.
Wren: I'm the other one.
Vass: and pray tell, what is the other one?
Caff: the one that hates the other two.
Vass: *ponders* except that you just agreed that the US is entirely made up of puritans and religious nutjobs...
Caff: yes, so?
Vass: so that would preclude there being a third option....
Caff: right
Vass: unless you wish to start denying that you're a US citizen
Caff: yes.
Vass: so would you care to inform me of which nation you are a citizen?
Caff: me!
Vass: I highly doubt that you're an independent nation...
Caff: I am indeed. I have my own tax rate adn everything.
Vass: defense force?
Caff: as you've seen
Vass: *nods* very crappy immune system. might want to increase your defense spending....
Vass: so is the independent nation of whatever you've decided to call it self-sufficient?
Caff: I rely heavily on imports.
Vass: of course. what's the population growth rate like?
Vass: or are you pursuing ZPG?
Caff: population growth is me.
Vass: okay... ZPG...
Vass: immigration?
Caff: isn't that a bit personal? ^_^
Vass: *laughs* only if you wish to take it that way ^_^
Vass: so what're the major industries?
Caff: large-scale organization, literature
Vass: large-scale organisation? sounds like consultation crap...
Caff: feh.
Vass: so what about literature then?
Caff: we export satire.
Vass: ahh... generic satire or is it more concentrated at particular people and groups?
Caff: depends on the angst production.
Vass: and is that generally high?
Caff: depends on international political climate.
Vass: how international? UN level international or more on the personal level of international?
Caff: when you're one person, everything is international.
Vass: very true, however not everyone else considers themselves their own nation...
Caff: well...yes.
Vass: so international confrontations can therefore be on the macro level(on nation against another), or the micro level (one nation against a member or members of another nation)...
Caff: micro level, generally
Vass: ahh... does it ever lead to low level warfare?
Caff: yes.
Vass: of course. silly question
Caff: indeed.
Vass: so do you get many tourists? or is that on a security level akin to immigration?
Caff: My country occasionally allows photo safaris.
Caff: *giggle*
Vass: as long as they aren't nude photo safaris
Caff: my country has never hosted a nude photo safari.
Vass: ahh... but you still get lots of tourists?
Caff: we limit our tourism.
Vass: very limited?
Caff: my country prefers to find other methods of income.
Vass: and blackmail? ^_^
Caff: only on a micro scale
Vass: ah, of course
Vass: so can your nation keep the entire populace employed?
Caff: yes. My nation has no problems finding a job.
(After death of AIM) Vass: trying to kill your computer?
Caff: my intelligence system briefly failed.

The Best Conversation I've Ever Had With Rose

Wren: hey Rose, you owe me sex, bitch.
Rose: HEY!
Rose: ok
Rose: Nyahahaha!
Wren: ooo, that was easy.
Rose: did you see the knife you got me? yes, it was easy!
Wren: I don't really like the idea of owing anyone sex...
Wren: except you.
Wren: *laughs*
Rose:*giggle* - of course you don't like owing anyone sex. It's just funny.
Rose: lets move to vermont!
Wren: sweet!

...

Rose: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Rose: oh my god, lets back up here
Wren: aww, that laughter hurts me deep inside.
Wren: can we back up to the vermont thing?
Rose: knives... make you drool.
Rose: see! You Like Sex.
Rose: I'm gonna make you a sign
Wren: WHAT.
Rose: Lol. no, i'm not, relax
Wren: WARNING: I Like SEX.
Rose: in a way, i envy you because you get to appreciate people. only i don't envy anyone. i need to think of a word for that
Wren: "appreciate people"...is that some new euphemism...
Rose: no!
Wren: *laughs*
Rose: you know, enjoy other people! Shut up!!
Wren: ok, ok.....
Rose: shuuut uuuuuuup!
Wren:
Rose: what did you just type?

Karma.

Well, today started out fantastically well. I ended up 1,600 richer than I thought I would be. The first hour of my morning was literally spent finding money I didn't know I had.

Of course I had to have my share of "fuuuck, I'm rippingmyhairout", too.

So now, though I have been trying to avoid it, I feel I must rant about what has been happening at work.

Monday night we had a really bad storm. My power didn't go out (it flickered and briefly ended a rather fun phone call, tho), but large sections of the city lost power. A lot of people didn't get theirs back until Thursday night.

I didn't think too much of this, tho, since I wasn't affected. Yeah, sure, a few street lights were out and whole roads were closed down due to large trees having fallen down across them, but I figured most people were pretty fine. I get a call on Tuesday tho, while out knife shopping with Rose, and my aunt tells me that my work is powerless. I immediately want to cry. See, Blockbuster can't close. We have movies to check in. If we don't check them in, people get late fees they don't deserve. So a power outage means NOTHING. We still have to find a way to work. And since we'd be there anyway trying to find a way to check in movies, Blockbuster will greedily insist that we also check OUT movies. Manually. By hand. Which means entering them into the computer later. Also, to do manual checkout, we can only rent to people who actually have cash and a Blockbuster card on them. For some reason this simple logic seems to escape people. How the FUCK can we track our movies without your account number? And no, I am NOT going to just trust your ass when you say you rent here all the time. And, asshole, how do you expect us to use your giftcard when we have NO FUCKING POWER? Geez, people are dumb!

So I get to work Wednesday, and luckily we got our power back at 11:30 the night before, but we can't use the computers still, because the computers think it's Monday. See, the power went out Monday night, so the closing shift didn't get to run Daily. See, Daily is the process that balances the computer and processes reports, then gets ready for the next day. If daily isn't run, you can't use the computer the next day. So on Wednedsay night when I came in Daily for Monday had just finished, so we got to continue checking things out manually until Daily for Tuesday was done. Which took two hours.

So now that Daily was done, the computers were technically usable, but before we could start checking out movies, we had to start checking them in. That job fell to me. I got to FOS (found on shelf command-no fees credited to account) the 300-odd movies that had accumulated during the power outage. After that, I got to check in all the ones that had been dropped off from 12 o clock on. It was 10PM at that point. Once all that was caught up, I was able to use one drawer to check people out, and my MOD used the other one to enter in all the manual checkouts. Ever done tax by hand? It sucks, motherfuckers. But we were always within 1 penny of the real price. *mild pride*

Luckily, it wasn't too busy that night, so while the MOD was trying to finish up computer crap, I was running cart after cart of movies. I got about 300 done. Which left another 200 for the opening shift. Which was one person. I left a note saying they could call me in if need be. I could use the money, anyway.

So I managed to get everything straightened, cleaned, and stocked, also, and MOD finished processing the manual checkouts at 11:58. I locked the door, and we started settling the accounts and running Wednesday's daily. We were headed out the door at about 12:30, but then we discover that out alarm had been fried during the outage. It took us until 1:06 to get out of the store.

I did get called in on Thurs, so I went in for three hours and finished running movies. We were all caught up.

Well, then FRIDAY comes. The satellites went down and the computers froze, so it was back into manual checkout mode. And it was busy, and people were pissy. I was also the one who got to process the checouts once our comps got back up because the MOD was new and a total imcompetent under pressure. She was spazzing out during the whole thing, which stressed ME out, and annoyed the customers. She hung up on computer support twice and left me up front to handle everything for at least an hour. Then, at 11:45, instead of helping me fucking straighten and stock soda and do trash, she gets a phone call and talks on the phone for 15 minutes. So I did all the damn closing duties AND caught the store back up, and she just freaked out and smoked a lot of cigarrettes. I am SO PISSED OFF about this. We FIRED D-Rick, why did we get another one?

Feh. That is all.

Hmm, she's making a list!

My aunt seems to think that badly bruised pears are the ones to buy, so I have to make a grocery store run tomorrow. Before work today I also have to run by the bank and deposit a check. That will give me all the money I need for Ikasu. And then some. Grand.

Things I need to scrounge up from the house:
1) my dream book
2) Henna book
3) Senior photos
4) nail polish remover
5) suitcase

Things I need to buy:
1) new jeans. my old ones are dying.
2) new henna paste. mmm, macrosun is my friend.
3) the last Lain DVD.
4) One album from iTunes (tbd).

Todo list:
1) Mail off the money order, already.
2) sort through college info. really. I'm doing that tonight. (Remind me....)
3) laundry.
4) must organize music more....

The Idiot's Guide to Finding Me at Work

AT 5:00, when the shift starts:
Still driving to work. Possibly getting into my car. Yes, all you people who IM me have a LOT to do with this. I'm the one in traffic with the windows down no matter what the weather is and blissfully blessing the surrounding area with her current musical obsession.

WHEN IT'S BUSY:
If active seller-I'm the one off in a corner glaring at customers and muttering to herself. I'm wearing a dorky red apron and my nametag is probably on upside down.
If cashier-I'm the one in the blue shirt who is looking you in the eyes and telling you that yes, you WILL be paying your late fees. I am also probably being a cold hard bitch to the young blonde boy in the pink shirt who is trying to hit on me. And his friends are snickering. If you're not sure enough, I'm the one who's knees crack when she crouches to get stuff out of the drop box.

WHEN IT'S EMPTY: Sitting on the floor watching TV. Or sitting underneath the security camera on the counter eating/reading a magazine. They can't see me. They have no proof. BWAHAHA. It is also possible that I am out on the floor talking to some of our regular late-night customers/my friends. If I am in my khaki pants, rest assured that they are falling down and my shirt is coming untucked. If I am in my skirt, I am probably holding boxcutters and grinning ominously at incoming customers.

AFTER 8PM: Sitting in my car in the parking lot, blissfully listening to music and enjoying fifteen minutes of peace.

IF MY STALKER COMES IN: In the back. With a walkie talkie. Awaiting an "all clear". You'll know if I'm back there, because there will be bad singing coming from the talkie up front.

AFTER CLOSE: I'm the one dancing in drama with my mp3 player on. Yes, I look like an ass. Yes, we are closed. I'm also probably the one telling you to go away. Stop tapping on the glass.

Well then!

It's back to the normal way of doing things. In bed, with laptop. Sleep. Wake up. In bed with laptop. Sleep...work, sometimes, get up for food...

hehehe.

::EDIT BEFORE WORK::
mmm, since everyone is gone I'm sitting in the living room draped across the Morphine Chair. SO COMFORTABLE. Tea is brewing in the kitchen and I'm organizing all the music Rupe and Jas gave me. Cue more zen-like calm.

7.06.2004

I AM NEVER USING FEDEX AGAIN

So I wake up today to discover that they've pushed off the arrival of the Ubermachine until 4:30 tomorrow. I am no longer zen-like and calm. I am ready to start breaking some things.

::EDIT AFTER CALLING FEDEX::
Well, at least I know they didn't actually try to deliver it to Indiana like the website says they did.

::EDIT IMMEDIATELY AFTER EDIT::
Ok, zen-like calm has returned. I'm gonna go knife shopping.

::EDIT AFTER KNIFE SHOPPING::
There's a door tag that says I can pick it up...but the phone lady said its in Indiana.

::EDIT AFTER LONG DRIVE DOWN HANLEY::
GOT IT!!

::FINAL EDIT::
Great...now they won't play nice. Time to redo the network.

7.05.2004

mmm, the last morning of peace

I'm actually easting breakfast. Generally I'm not up early enough to eat breakfast foods. But today decided to be special. There was another thunderstorm around 8 AM and I had to wake up and reset my alarm becuase I had NO intention of sleeping past 1PM. Well, then a few minutes ago, the phone rang. I was afraid it was Fed-Ex calling and saying "j00 get no laptop, lolz sorry!!!1one", so leapt out of bed and ran to check the messages, because they LOVE to leave messages and then hide.

Well, I got to sit through two quite scary messages for Fam from her friends. Both the ladies were quite confused. I think one of them didn't know where her daughter was. And then I got this looooovely message from my grandfather. He doesn't seem to realize that we have call forwarding, and not a new number, so he left this long angry message for me along the lines of "We WANTED to invite you out to Disneyland, but since you're living in the apartment and you didn't BOTHER to give us your new number...call us if you get this sometime within the next six months." I was giggling evilly by the end of it. He sounded like such a dumb asshole. SO I tried to call him back and say "if you had BOTHERED to notice that we have call forwarding and you don't NEED a new number, then you wouldn't feel like such a moron. And before you say it, I wasn't avoiding you. I was at WORK." bwahaha.

I'm strangely peaceful. I think I'm going to go shower and then do some laundry. Around one I'll go see if FedEx came through for me and the Ubermachine is home.

Random contemplation

I have never understood Bob. Bob is the cat that Fam and Unc had when I came to live with them. His full name is Robert Jr, and I think that may be part of the problem.

Bob doesn't like to be petted. He doesn't like to play. He's afraid of literally EVERYTHING. Last week or so when Biker and I were watching Gothika and we started screaming, he literally went AIRBORNE from the bed and ran full speed out of the room doing the scared kitty tail thing.

Bob is also a biter. But he doesn't bite me anymore. I let him do it ONCE. When he bit me, I wapped him upside the head (not hard. never hard) and chased him across the house screaming. So now he leaves my flesh unpunctured.

But since we moved into the apartment, Bob has been a changed kitty. He sleeps in my room at night on my bed WITHOUT getting pissed if I move around. And he's a total attention whore. He follows me around yowling and DEMANDS that I pet him. And he's taken to waking me up so I'll pet him.

But he still doesn't play, and I discovered today that he doesn't like tuna.

Bob is...an interesting creature, indeed.

7.03.2004

Yep. I am totally, utterly screwed.

It's official.
DOOMDOOOMDOOOOMDOOOOOOOM......

Oh, and I've never seen Footloose, so stop whining about the lyrics. I post what I want. And I thought that was funny.

6.30.2004

For once I'd like to not be the strong one.

Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night toss and turn and dream of what I need

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I would swear that there's someone somewhere
Watching me

Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like the fire in my blood

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

How did I hurt me? Let me count the ways...

So I had grand fun at the lake/grad party this weekend. A little too much fun. So I am going to whine and list all the places I'm hurt. Yes, this week, poking will find a sore spot. So no touchy, no die.

Bruised:
1) My forehead. Climbing back in the boat can suck sometimes.
2) Left bicep. About the size of a dollar coin.
3) Left inner arm. Size of a dime.
4) My chest. This is made worse by the fact that my pecs are sore, too.
5) My stomach is currently a network of bruises.
6) Right hip is black and blue from a bad landing.
7) My bum, for the same reason as 6.
8) Both shins. I look like I was attacked by someone who wears my kind of shoes.

Sore:
1) Neck.
2) Shoulders.
3) Arms.
4) Pecs.
5) Entire back.
6) Ass.
7) Hamstrings.
8) Quads.
9) Hip flexors.
10) Abs.
11) Left ankle.

I can't walk very well, get out of the car very well, or put on clothes very well. The moral of the story? Tubing is fun!!!

::Edit 8:34 PM::
Total mood swing. Thank you, Damily.

A word to Fam. I have a feeling I am going to get VERY sick of the phrase "the neighbors can hear you" as a replacement for what used to be YOU admitting you were annoyed at whatever supposedly loud noise I was making. As I type this, your daughter is using a pair of high heels to make loud drumming noises on the floor. How ironic.

And every time you yell at me because I didn't do something the way you wanted it, I flash back to all the things my mom used to say to me and am left feeling like utter trash. So don't tell me I'm being ridiculous. You just don't get what's REALLY wrong.

::final edit::
I'm feeling a bit less sad, slightly bored, and very perverse (not perverted. stop.) right now, so here's some context for what I typed above.

"Wipe off the stove. You made a huge mess."

...Does she mean THIS?

"And wipe down the cabinets. This kitchen is so filthy."

I feel cheap now, but man, that was fun.

6.24.2004

Run. Now.

For I have found the knife I want. Flavino Ikoma, I love you. And this is why.

MMM. Hande-made, sub-zero quenched, and, best of all, perfectly balanced at the first finger groove. Oh, and did I mention the velvet-lined sheath?

::cue diabolical smiling::

6.23.2004

The beast within

Well, I have to call in in 20 minutes to see if Mini-MOD needs me. He always says no, but still. Hell may freeze over at 11:55.

Last night I stayed up far too long working on an evil plot, but the good news is that it's almost over. One of you should soon start feeling very afraid, for I am almost ready to retaliate. BWAHAHA.

HMM. Well, back to work on it, methinks. MMM, naked pronoun.

::Edit after watching The Last Samurai and Pitch Black with Biker::

Best Quote Evar:: "Never underesturmate the Samurmai"

6.21.2004

Well...

I really wish I didn't have to go to work today. 1-6 is kind of a crappy shift. And, well, the day outside looks like suck.

To-Do List:
1) e-mail Ikasu and make sure I'm regged
2) plane tickets
3) finish computer/HP crap so it can get fixed.
4) fill out all the forms from college
5) Have fam look them over and fork over some money
6) call Saturn and schedule maintenence and repair
7) rent movie and watch with Biker after work
8) clean room

Time to go wash/tame my hair. I'm sick of glorious bedhead.

6.19.2004

Weekend Update

Well, before I had off into the internetless void and sail for the rest of the weekend, allow me to give an update on my computer.

It is not the AC adapter like I was hoping. It's the port itself. So now I have to send the poor thing off to HP to get the whole damn motherboard replaced...and this is NOT covered under my warranty, sooo...there goes some money. But the good news is I told Unc all this and how much it'd be and he was like "oh, ok. Send it off Monday." And that will be that. I don't know what life will be like when I have to fix what I break out of my own pocket. I'll have to cut down on the evil plots and general destructive mayhem in my life.

Nah.

But now I have to go without it for...oh, I'm guessing at least two weeks. But it's mine! My own! My precioussss....

I need. To stop. DOING THAT.

6.17.2004

Note To Self

Remember that long hair tangles. Cuz you seem to have forgotten, and get shocked every time it happens.

The reason why the maid's license plate is NME

...she told Fed-Ex the wrong address, and delayed the delivery of the part that will once again allow me to use my laptop...by two days. There will be death.

6.16.2004

What the hell am I doing? I have to be totally insane.

6.15.2004

Eureka!!

My teenage years are Karmic retribution for all the ants I hammered while sitting on my grandma's sidewalk when I was five.

Why I'm never caffeine free

The tea is brewing in the kitchen. Until I get some of that past my lips I will be stuck in pissy bitch mode. So, since I'm typing this while I wait, you all get to read a bit of my ranting. Sorry in advance. Sort of.

There are three people in this world that I don't feel bad about hating with every fiber of my being. One of the is the fucking maid, who struck again today. I hate her for several reasons: First of all, she doesn't like me. Every time I open my mouth I can see her off by the mop water, rolling her eyes and muttering about me under her weezy, nightmarish breath. She tries to get me to stop talking when Fam and I are fighting. Some day I am going to look at her and lose it and say something along the lines of "look, you fat bitch, you're paid to clean my toilet, not give advice on how to deal with teenagers. You're quite possibly more inept than my aunt." Only I doubt it will be so kind.

I'm sorry; I don't give a damn what kind of hard life you had. Mine's been no piece of cake, but you don't see me holding it over everyone, going "look how I suffered! I sacrificed my education to keep my younger siblings alive, and now I clean floors and kiss rich ass for a living." Next time someone tries to explain away your ignorant behavior by telling me your sob story I'm going to punch them and go "well, don't pay attention to that; I was abused." I mean really. GAH!

I also hate the circumstances that arise when she's around:
1) She cleans my room. NO ONE GOES IN MY ROOM. NO ONE BUT ME CLEANS MY ROOM. You'd think my family would like the fact that I am a person who is actually capable of cleaning up after herself, but NO. We get into a fight literally every week about whether or not her fat ass should be let in to mop my floor. She has broken too many things in my room already. And she never sweeps under the bed. I'd rather keep my remaining decor intact, but no. "The. Floor. Must. Be. Swept. Open. The. Door." -The Mgmt

2) To clean my room, she wakes me up at 8 AM. Just barges in and starts cleaning. And every time this happens I throw her out so I can fucking get DRESSED. And next week...there she is again! She doesn't get it.

3) I have to listen to her breathing. Sometimes, when she pauses, I dream that she's had a heart attack.

Now that I think about it, I don't actually HATE the following people. One is evil, the other is annoying.

The second person is a girl who earned my dislike. And I used to feel bad about it...but she's hurt too many of my friends now for me to have any scrap of guilt. Personality-wise she's fine, but she has no morals whatsoever. And so her actions end up hurting people I care about...and BAM.

The third person is the most annoying customer at my store. He's this short, balding, fat guy in glasses who's loud and tries to talk to you about movies. I'm sorry; I know NOTHING about movies. So that makes it a little difficult for us to converse. He mostly leaves me alone, now, but he bugs my co-workers and stays in the store holding up the line until I've developed an eye twitch. He's one of those people who tries to hard to be a movie critic. He spews all those cliche words around when discussing plot, knows every director, etc...but you can tell he doesn't really get it (as much as you can get Hollywood...I can't think of a better way to say this; he focuses on movies because he has no life. I think I need to put the lot of you in a room with him and see how long it takes for one of you to slice his throat to shut him up. I'll bet on ten minutes.

Also, I still have no laptop. Or DSL. And my lovely plan to go to sleep early? Failed. I slept LESS than usual because I kept freaking being woken up by things.

OOOH, wait! The DSL just came! I'mma go sugar the tea and get it set up.

::EDIT::
I wonder why it never occured to either me or Amber to check and see if we had a fucking ethernet adapter on the big comp?

::goes off to see if anything can be done::

::EDIT 8PM::
I have decided. This day is DETERMINED to suck.

6.13.2004

Push me, and then just hurt me

till I can get my satisfaction.

::EDIT MIDNIGHT::
The thing that drives me crazy about the apartment? Outside in the courtyard, there is this fantastic water fountain. WHY AM I NOT ALLOWED IN IT??

I'm not looking forward to the store meeting tomorrow. The SM is going to royally chew us out. I can just feel it. In me bones. But I AM gonna get a few more books of the Island manga, so...

Hmm. I wonder if my comic book shop stocks Exploitation Now. That would be handy.

__________________________________________________

::EDIT 12:30 AM::

This is Pan. Pan is the serial killing psycho machine from Island, the manga I mentioned above. He protects Won Miho--for a price. If you click Pan's pic you can learn alllll about him (and by him I mean the manga itself). Island is a Korean manga that kicks serious ass...but they could have chosen a better picture of Miho to go in the character profile page.

THINGS PAN HAS GOING FOR HIM:
1) He's asian.
2) He has a sexy knife. With blood grooves.
3) He knows how to use it.
4) Great smile...if a bit psycho.
5) Is secretly a good guy.
6) HAIR!! OMG, HAIR, WAI WAI WAI!! XD

6.12.2004

o.O

I can't put eyeliner on today. It just...won't...work.

::edit:: more fun with the family...
Fam: (after asking me to clean the kitchen) I'm gonna set this in here, too, so go ahead and wash it with all the other things, ok?
Me: *deadpan* No. I refuse to wash anything I have not personally dirtied.
Fam: *pissy* Oh, poop! You know it? I wash your dishes all the time.
Me: ...
Me: I was joking.
Fam: Oh, I didnt know that.

Stuck in my head

I've had nothing but bad luck
Since the day I saw the cat at my door
So I came into you sweet lady
Answering your mystical call
Crystal ball on the table
Showing the future,the past
Same cat with them evil eyes
And I knew it was a spell she cast

She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you from behind

Give me the ring on your finger
Let me see the lines on your hand
I can see me a tall dark stranger
Giving you what you hadn't planned
I drank the potion she offered me
I found myself on the floor
Then I looked in those big green eyes
And I wondered what I'd come there for

She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you from behind

Stay away, look out!

If you're out on a moonlit night
Be careful of them neighbourhood strays
Of a lady with long black hair
Tryin' to win you with her feminine ways
Crystal ball on the table
Showing the future,the past
Same cat with them evil eyes
You'd better get out of there fast

She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you...

Tired rich whiny bitch

See, secretly I KNOW that I was not just woken up by our fat bitch of a maid at 10AM. She didn't just waltz into my room at that ungodly hour of the morning and go "Get up so I can clean." NO ONE WAKES ME UP. EVER. EVEREVERVERVER. Especially not people I hate who breathe funny and have the nerve to butt in on family issues. We pay you to wax the floor, bitch. Take your bad advice and fuck off. No I don't want to eat lunch with you. Now stop vaccuming, it's making my ears bleed.

And she just fucking moved the Sex Rug. Threw it. Aw hell no. *goes to grab katana*

6.08.2004

yes...

I just had an absolutey fantastic pear. ::goes to clean self off and get new shirt and stuff:: Oh, and I forgot to grab more contacts, so I'm stuck in glasses for a while.

::leaves for work:: When I get home,
c a f f e i n a t i o n n a t i o n
begins. You will be assimilated.

::EDIT AFTER WORK::
I got hit on by a big group of lesbians today. They're all regular cutomers of mine, and I think they're a lot of fun, but they were in some kind of mood/on something tonight. I say hi when they come in, and one of them winks and goes "Hey baby". Eh, figured they were joking.

Then, when they came up to check out, one of them had a late fee. "I'll split it with you," I say. "Yes, split it with me," she says, and grins. Then her girlfriend looks me dead in the eye and says "What else will you split with us?"

I blushed a lot.

*rolls eyes at everyone in a non-annoyed way*

I'm receiving a bit too much drama this week, Life, so I'm kindly requesting that you stop the fucking transfer and check my account balance. I'm being over-funded. Take some back.

6.07.2004

Gah. Some evil plots are not cheap. Today I'm going to have to break down and drop $30 to bring my new one to realization. For those of you who wonder just how many evil plots I have, let it be known that there are currently only two. This one I am whining about now does not count because I am only the henchman. Woman. But even as a lowly hench[person], I know that I CANNOT have a mic that sounds like crap.

::EDIT:: My mic no longer sounds like crap. hehe.

Also, in 24 hours I am going to be the proud owner of caffeinationnation.com. Fear. Now. Seriously.

::FINAL EDIT::
I wonder if she really meant to do this (quoting fun, er...five?):
Biker: bed!
Biker: bye
Wren: bite!
Biker: !
Wren: nite!
Wren: I meant nite!!
Wren: really!
Biker: lol hahahahaha
Biker: bi
Biker signed off at 12:40:50 AM.

6.06.2004

This made my night:

BDM: you just made me feel so much better.

Good.

New template because the old one didn't work in a lot of people's browsers. I'll customize later.

::EDIT::
Okay, here's the deal. When I said a lot of people, I meant me, cuz I switched from IE to Firefox yesterday in a vain attempt to keep the Ubermachine happy.

I know it's a lot of black right now. I'm screwing with the template so's I can get more color in. But this was the darkest thing I could find that didn't have all these damn annoying dots all over the place...

It should be back up by tonight. WHEE!

::FINAL EDIT:: This, dahlings, is today's evil plot. Enjoy.

ALSO: My IME isn't working right on the forum, so I'm going to test it here:

ニつも びょうき です。

Yep, works fine here. What the hell.

Breakdown

In your life you seem to have it all
You seem to have control
But deep within your soul
You're losing it
You never took the time
Assume that you're to blame
You think that you're insane
Won't you spare me

[Chorus:]
I know the breakdown
Everything is gonna shake now someday
I know the breakdown
Tell me again am i awake now maybe
You can find the reason that no one else is living this way

Yeah your lies
Your world is built around
Two faces to a clown
The voices in your head
Think there's four pawns down
Well in this unity
Fate has found the need
So you better check yourself
Before you check out

[Chorus]

If you find yourself
Then you might believe
Then within yourself
You just might conceive

[Chorus]

You can find the reason that (you can find the reason that)
No one else is living this way (you can find the reason that way)

6.05.2004

Even more quoting fun.

Barbar: if I'm not back by the time you go poof, lemme know what the deal is, mkay?
Me: okie!
Me: nite!
Me: ish
Me: thing
Barbar: niteish. thing.
Barbar: yes.
Barbar: EXACTLY.
Barbar: you have a way with words that is unrivaled by anyone else I know.

Ain't that the truth... *rolls eyes at self*

5.31.2004

bwhahahaha...

New evil plot is 1/3 of the way to completion. I rule. I SO rule.

Something Positive

When I have a full tank of gas, it doesn't matter how broke I am; I always feel loaded.

5.30.2004

Damn you, Unc.

A new wave of loneliness hath hit. Can I move in with someone far away from STL, please?

Gah. I like him better when he's ignoring me.

5.29.2004

my life is forcing me to be angsty

Work was fine until the last hour. I got to get out of the damn red apron and be a normal employee and start closing duties. There was a lull, so I straightened new releases and took out the trash. Boss gets off break (2-10ers don't GET one), I tell her what I'd done, and she says "Why did you do new releases? Go do back trash and then help me on the library." So I do more trash, do my side of the library, and then go tell her I'm done. Her response? "Why do you keep asking me what needs to be done? You know this store just as well as I do." Very pissily. So I do my normal 'I'm annoyed at you' hand motion and walk off. Hello. You just yelled at me for doing my own thing, and now you want me to do my own thing? Fuck you.

Then I come home and Fam has once again fucked with all my stuff and piled crap that isn't EVEN MINE in my room, on my bed. Oh, sure. MY shit can't be out in the house, but she can fucking throw hers in whatever room she likes, ne? And then of course she does the thing that pisses me off the most: STOP SETTING EVERYTHING ON TOP OF MY LAPTOP. HAVE A LITTLE FUCKING RESPECT. IT IS FAR SMARTER AND COOLER THAN YOU WILL EVER BE. E V E R.

*sigh* There. I did it.
[/angsty bitch]

::EDIT 2:49 AM:: more quoting fun!
Rupe: I dunno, females tend to get more evil than males when they really put their minds to it
Me: remember, I feel guilty when I'm evil. I suck at being female.

5.28.2004

I is graduateded.

Booyaka!

::EDIT NEXT MORNING:: Alright, I'm feeling a bit more serious, so here's a decent picture that proves I have pupils er, wait...

Photos from the Hailstorm

I really like rain, so I was taking pictures of our front yard during the storm and enjoying the sheer prettiness of it all.

Then came the hail...

I didn't know that hail the size of a nickel could wreak so much havoc: 6k to the house, 7k to the Pacifica, and 10k to my car...dent resistant panelling my ass.

And, of course, my poor little plants!! All of them...dead.

And then the storm passed.

So there you go. Mourn with me.

5.27.2004

I'm sad and lonely!

So here's what made me laugh pretty damn hard despite this!!

I guess there really is no rest for the wicked.

Cuz last night, thanks to that damn voice chat thing, I stayed up until like 2:30. Uh, and...for the record, the fact that there were three Aussies on had nothing to do with it. Well. One was a dramatic, woman-bashing ass. Who tried to be nice and normal to me after most of the guys left. And I, of course, had to be civil. Why do I force myself to be polite to people I hate? Tatsu was nice, tho, and I didn't get to talk to mad, but he seems cool in IRC, so meh.

Anyway, I wish I could have gotten on earlier, cuz there were more people I wanted to talk to. I hear Ero has an odd voice, and Barbar left right before I got the damn mic figured out. And by mic I mean headphones.

Also, my back and neck are sore from yesterday. Yum.

5.26.2004

Why My Graduation Announcements Will Be Late

Well, according to the estimate, the storm did 6K worth of damage to our house, and the cars, well...I have to get mine in for an estimate "timely" (fuck you, Fam.) However, I have graduation practice tomorrow, and the actual graduation Friday, and then there's the all-night grad party. Then I have to work Saturday and Sunday...And then come Tuesday at 8AM, we're moving to the apartment so the house can be re-modeled.

Yeah. So guess what's getting the back burner?

5.25.2004

...

I own a Freudian bra.

Time to go shopping.

The hail killed everything

I'm gonna go cry, then compile a list of victims.

5.24.2004

HMMM, she drank my last soda. DAMN HER.

I'm sitting here eating a healthy breakfast and thinking about the soda that got away. And now I have to save the glass bottles as part of one of my many evil plots...

Soda is one thing I will not give up. Ever. Tea, there is no need to give up, but soda...I really should. Ah well, not like I need to worry about dehydration, since I can't run anymore [/bitter ex-athlete].

All is good, tho. I have a chicken all cooking away in the crock pot I had to borrow since Fam has mysteriously decided we're not going to use OUR crock pot until September...I know. I don't get it, either.

Things I have to do today:
1) Work 2-5
2) Finish installing Photoshop
3) Finish Employee Pick signs
4) Watch Troy
5) refill my prescription
6) Begin ripping Eva DVDs to get the footage for my AMV

Things I need to do soon:
1) tell my otaku friend about the con
2) pack to move into the apartment. Is all this stress really worth a pool?
3) graduation announcements.
4) graduation party.
5) graduation.

5.23.2004

Temperature

"My inner temper is permanently high."

5.21.2004

Things I want to eat that are not currently in the house

1) fruit- strawberries, pears (fresh or canned), peaches, plums, apricots, blackberries, green grapes, watermelon, mango, cantaloupe, honeydew.
2)veggies- cucumber, green beans, green leaf lettuce, carrots.
3) meats- boca burgers, ground turkey, chicken breasts/thighs, orange roughy.
4) pastas- shell pasta, angel hair spaghetti, ravioli. Brown and jasmine rice.
5) misc stuff to cook with- lemons, cream of mushroom soup, spaghetti sauce, teryaki sauce, sweet and sour sauce, plum sauce, yeast, potatos. (considers doing a crock pot chicken. Wonders if she still has a crock pot.)sharp cheddar.
6) dessert stuff- cookies, lime/raspberry sorbet. Chocolate milk.
7) drinks- bottled water (look, it's easy and portable). Juice. Lemonade.

What is in the house:
mayo, easy mac, bread. Beef rice-a-roni. Beef soup. Steaks. Ham and kraft singles. blueberries and old iceberg lettuce. zuchinni. stale cereal. garlic and an old orange...rotting onion...

and yet...
FAM: "What do you want that we don't already have?"
ME: "EVERYTHING."

5.19.2004

...

This is the last time I'll be updating my blog from my first hour class. Bye bye, student assistant! ...I was the most worthless student assistant ever. Really. All I did was sit at the computer, read Kyhm, and blog. Not that I'm complaining, but...she might be. In her head.

TODAY'S SCHEDULE: (mostly for my own information)
1) Student Assistant- Receive checkout sheet for all classes
2) Japanese- uh...sign yearbooks/study for Peg final
3) Spanish AP- take "final", eat food...and watch Profe flip that we twisted the scavenger hunt and sent HER for a spin.
4)Botany- Take "final." Open note, non-cumulative.
5) Pegasus- begin final. I will have to finish it 4th hour tomorrow.
6) Philosophy- ???. Final is tomorrow...
7) Calc- hehehe. Pizza party=final.

So tomorrow I just have to come back for two hours. And luckily they are back-to-back. But today is my last full day.

...whoa. It's not sinking in. I feel...

...

...the need to go browse the forum.

5.18.2004

Gah, saaaad!

Well, not only did I leave my book behind last night when I wanted to study for the Pegasus final...but I also seem to have lost it completely. I am not happy. The book is not cheap. I need it to study. Desperately. And now...not only do I have to work tonight, and the first half of it is tomorrow...but I need to find the damn book.

I just did a little mental backtracking. All my review sheets are in my book. Which means that as of Friday (or Monday...damnit), I still had it. So I think I left it in the Grammar Witch's room. And I'd go check now, but they're doing presentations...so I ahev to wait until the bell rings.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

It isn't quite as bad as it could be, though. I actually have notes over most of what the final for tomorrow will be over. "The Poetic Attack", or a very strict method of formally analyzing a poem in an essay. I don't expect that part to be too hard. But the second part...

...

*dies* I am so utterly, totally, dead and screwed.

Go me.

*eye roll* I must deserve this. This is some sort of Karmic retribution.

::EDIT AFTER SCHOOL::
Karmic retribution indeed. It was in my car all along. This is definitely a sign that I should clean it. (Note: MY car is infamous for being dirty. Stuff just...ends up in there.)

It is thundering! Today would be a lovely day to stay at home and play in the rainstudy...but noooo, I have to go into work! So I won't be back 'till around midnight-thirty....

A quote that hurts muchly:
ME: well, I like languages. A lot. And I didn;t ahev problems with anythign except comma usage.
RUPE: and typos, it seems

SHAMED!!

5.17.2004

しゅくだい います。

しゅくだい が きらい です。 しゅくだい わ わるい です。

::EDIT 6PM::
No, I still do not feel like translating that. Yes, you all may suck it up.

Lookee what I found! An old excerpt from that satire piece I've been working on since I moved to STL. I revamped it, took out some un-necessay descriptions, and added in a more mature, subtle wit (::snicker::). Here goes!

8. Dinner

I sit down at the dining room table and watch Fam and Unc as they arrange themselves in their chairs. It was dinner time again. My aunt had actually cooked, and I was dreading what I had to put myself through as a result. You see, I am a picky eater at best, and you CAN’T be picky when you’re dealing with her cooking. If you are, you’ll starve. Which might explain why I have lost ten pounds in the last two months.

As she sets the plate down in front of me I try frantically to fight back a look of horror. Fam has an insecurity about her cooking. You see, her mom and her sister were wonderful cooks (being her sister’s daughter, I should know. Man, I’m ruined.), and she just hasn’t ever managed to get the knack of it. The mess that is supposed to be goulash looms at me, and I find myself thinking about the famous Spartan black broth. Great, I think. Even militant, bloodthirsty Greeks living before the Christian Era had it better than me.

Fam looks at me expectantly to see if I'm happy to see her latest creation, and I really do feel guilty for what's going through my mind. She's made an effort in the kitchen since I got here, but her desire to please has often just made it all worse. See, every time I don't like the dish, she takes it as a personal insult on her pride. It's sad. I try my best to hide what I really think of her cooking, but...

So here I am now, guilty, yet wanting to burst into hysterical laughter. I'm also disgusted at my own juvenality. It takes all my effort to suppress these three emotions; It takes all my self-control to pick up a fork and stab the overcooked pasta shells before me without retching.

Just as I’m about to take a bite, Fam says “I ran out of tomato paste, so I used ketchup.”

The fork goes down. I look at her with incredulity. “Ketchup? The slop that is in no way similar to tomato paste?” I really doubt that ketchup is still made with tomatoes. I mean, come on, it comes in green!

She looks at me, mildly annoyed. “You won’t be able to tell.”

I hoped she was right. Well, time to focus on the task at hand. Holding my breath, I put the fork in my mouth and try to get the pasta off of it. I do eventually win, but there is no joy in it. The stuff is a medley of these three flavors and textures: Squishy starch, runny ketchup, and stringy cheese. And I swear it’s trying to chew me back.

“So,” I ask once I have finally swallowed the bite, “What spices did you use?”

Fam blinks and doesn’t answer. I begin to consider the possibility of taking over cooking dinner for the household. It may well be worth failing all my classes because I don't have time to do homework.

Maybe if I talk I won’t think about what type of profanity I am poisoning my bodily systems with. Thinking of a topic, I startle them both by speaking. Evidently they are used to inhaling food in silence. And I do mean inhale.

“My English teacher told me about an interesting thing I can try out for, for high school.”

Fam opens her mouth in mid chew to speak, and I discover that somehow masticated goulash doesn’t seem any less appealing than the non-masticated kind. “Interesting?”

I nod. “Yeah, it’s like this advanced English class or something.”

Unc’s turn to find a response. “Advanced?”

“Yeah. Since I have a 100% in English, she thinks I should try for it.” I try not to allow any obtuseness of voice into that comment. They must not yet learn that I am usually being sarcastic when I speak to them. That would have disastrous consequences.

“Oh really? Your grades are that good?” ((Talking monkey. Really.))

“Yeah, so I think I’m gonna try for it cuz it’s supposed to be really challenging. School has never been tough for me, so I kinda wanna to have something I can put effort into,” I say vaguely.

Unc nods. As the smart, successful lawyer of the family, he knows all about needing a challenge. “What do you have to do to get in?”

“I don’t know.”

“What will the class be like? What types of things will you do?”

“Actually, I don’t know that, either.”

“So why are you trying out for it?”

“Mostly because I can.”

He looks at me with a total flat look in his eyes that signifies complete lack of understanding. Yeah, you and the rest of the world, Unc. Looking down, I realize that the heap of toxic waste on my plate is still at the same sickening level. Sighing, I pick up the fork again. If I had eaten food like this as long as Fam and Unc had, I too would know how to inhale food like they do.

Looking at them, I wonder how they manage to stay OVER the recommended weight level by thirty or so pounds. Fam has an excuse, since she’s still slimming down from being pregnant, but Unc must supplement his diet from fast food restaurants. I laugh quietly to myself as I remember a conversation I recently overheard between the two of them.
“How can you say such mean things to me, sweetie?”

“Look, honey, you asked me, and I told you my opinion.”

“You called me fat!”

“No, I said you were big when you were pregnant.”

“Hmph.”

“And honestly, you didn’t help it all that much by wearing purple sweats, cuz then you looked like a big grape on legs.”

“Marcus!” His name was said in the most outraged voice I have ever heard.

That is when I wisely left the room. To this day, it still makes me laugh. Because I saw that outfit, and that’s exactly the thought that had run through my head.

______________________________
That's a bit better. Meh. ::goes off to study for her last plant sex test::

estoy pensando en espanol malo, como siempre.

Dios mio! Tengo mucho stres. Mi profe de Ingles es una diabla que quiera mi clase tomar el examen final manana. Y yo, claro, no he estudiado. La otra clase va a tomarlo por miercoles. Un dia mas para estudiar seria fantastico. (No puedo usar acentos. Esto me molesta mucho.)

And, of course, I am thinking in bad Spanish. I need to brush up on my tenses. I think I'll do that in my free time during the summer. Assuming, of course, there will be time between when I am sleeping, fecking around with my plants, and on the forum/IRC.
Yeah. Add to that all the games I have to beat. The list is on the rightleft. One day I will actually learn my directions. Oh yes.

Ok. So what I said up there: (not a true translation, but it all means the same thing.)
I'm very stressed out thanks to the Grammar Witch. She tells us today whether or not our final starts tomorrow...or Thursday. And have I studied yet? Nope. I'm comfortably in denial about the whole thing. I'll hate myself tonight, but meh. (Note to BDM-sama and Jas-kun: don't freaking let me on IRC. Make me study.)

So tonight I get to do the following:
1) clean my water fountain.
2) study for my Pegasus final.
3) study for my botany 'final'.
4) read handouts for philosophy discussion final.
5) laundry. I'm running out of underwear and shirts.
6) oh, and sleep.

5.15.2004

My views on the night

...Like you all care.

It didn't start out all that great, in all honesty. I had a girlie breakdown moment in front of all my guy friends when I showed up late without my date OR my tickets to the limo meeting place...that's a long story, but let's say I was embarassed to be caught crying in front of them. I did find my 'date', and managed to get into prom after some 'negotiating'.

The food was excellent, though the pasta was a bit too salty. But no one else had an issue, so it must have just been me. The music was better than I remember sophomore year, but still pretty damn sucky. I danced anyway. In the shoes below.

HMM... I had a great time and the limo was fan-fucking-tastic. It had a stocked soda bar, a TV/DVD/Stereo, and lots of neon color-changing lights. There. I am done.

5.14.2004

The getting ready process

STEP 1: Hair

A funny quote:
FAM: *sarcasm* "Oh, nice hair."
ME: "Thanks, I'm leaving it this way."
FAM: *pause* "Are you really? You're not going to let it down?"
ME: *stare* "Guess."

STEP 2: Gather the tools

...yeah. Most of that went on my face. o.O !

STEP 3: (After a bath. Sorry, no photos.) Put it on my face

STEP 4: Begin to finish hair (cue scary Medussa piccy)

STEP 5: Put on accessories and dress

And to make sure you all understand these shoes...

Yes, my feet are all blisters today. But I had a night of talless. Go me.

STEP 6: Take bad close-up photo before taming waves

A full pic is coming soon of me in my dress. I swear. I just have to find it. And like it.

5.13.2004

I really am a caffeine whore!

My tea came today. I saw the box on my doorstep, and I swear...it was the sexiest thing I have ever seen. Because it was full of the Leaves of God. There was so much good Karma radiating from the damn thing that I almost fell over on my poor little hand-raised plants.

So here I am now, sipping a cup of freshly-infused Dragon Phoenix Pearl Jasmine, and anticipating all the other teas I now have at my disposal to sample.

I could DIE. Such happiness.

5.12.2004

Well, I'm ready for Prom now.

Two highlights of the dress trip last night with Rose: While driving to West County, we were stuck behind this "old zombie lady"...and we nearly witnessed her death when she swerved into oncoming traffic and an SUV almost hit her. This is only a highlight because of our shocked response: "Wow...", I said. "We almost saw-" Rose continues..."An old lady die," I finished. Then we berated ourselves for how awful it was to be laughing about it. ((Desensitized America.))

Also, I told Rose not to let me get a black dress, since pretty much all I wear is black, and the dress I wore to Prom sophomore year was black...and she made sure I didn't...((damn her)). So I kept on trying to sneak black dresses in anyway when I was grabbing ones to try on. For example: "Oh, wow! This is such a pretty purple!" Rose looks over, glares, and says "Wren! That dress is black!" I point to the lavender trimming around the bodice. She glares at me. "Put. It. Back. That dress is SO not purple."

For the rest of the night she kept bringing up the "purple dress."

I ended up with a white dress. Yeah, I know. Me, in white? But it's really pretty. It has a halter top and a wide skirt, and the cloth is covered in silver, almost-snowflakelike flecks. I have lots of shiny jewelry to go with it, too. I am going to freaking GLOW on prom night...

...ugh. I don't think I'll be able to bring myself to post a picture.

For Those Who Care:

Existentialism, Angst, and God
That, m'dears, is a link to the full text of my Philosophy paper. If you want to see what I can type up in an hour, clicky.

Keep in mind that it is a paper that requires no quotes or outside research. It is all a product of my own mind. And, therefore...total BS. We shall see if Mr. K. notices.

Oh, and if you like the sucky one, here's one he loved:

Why Study Philosophy?
Yes, I know it's a boring title, but the first line has gone down in history as one of the oddest openings my teacher has ever read.

This paper had some sources we were required to use, so page numbers weren't necessary. It is, as you can see, also an informal essay. I'd post a formal one if they all weren't so DAMN BORING!

How the Night Went

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!
[/primal scream]

So I had to go to work at four today, not five. I am so glad I had no homework, otherwise I would have been insanely screwed.

I get there a bit late and realize that the only reason I am scheduled is b/c CSRs are not allowed to work alone during a meeting or some crap like that. So Hockey Boy and I spend two hours doing practically nothing. By nothing I mean opening every game in the game section and making sure they were all inside. While listening to the damn girl in "Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!" scream over and over in wild glee on the trailer tape. But there was a perk: The store was dead the whole night.

Then it's on to the meeting. Don't get me wrong, there are worse ways to work two hours of a shift away. And since I'd already spend two hours before that doing nothing, that meant I'd only have to do four hours of real work. But BBV has decided to revamp the selling process once again. I just went through a fucking training and evaluation class of HELL for the old way, and now I'm told I have to get re-evaluated! DAMN THIS! I am SO SICK of working a job where I have to feed the monster! It's bad enough that I have to sell, but they want me to sell and be followed around by someone with a piece of paper who has to rate my actions on a scale. NO.

Oh...and I'm on call for Prom. And no one will fucking work for me. So I may get written up for going to a school function. But I've already put $100 into this whole damn ordeal. Screw them. They won't actually NEED me.

I...am going to go accost someone now.

::EDIT AFTER SLEEP::
I added a few things to the post above and got rid of the typos. Woo!

Man! This week is already kicking my ass, and it's only Tuesday!! Yesterday morning I woke up and realized that I am *THIS* close to being utterly burned out. It's a good thing the work load is lessening...mostly. I don't even have the willpower to get out of the house, hang out with my friends, plant my plants, etc. All I want to do is sit and read/play a game/talk online in my PJs (or portions of) with a blanket and a mug of tea. Or sleep.

You know something is wrong when you don't have enough left in you to even be social. I feel myself sliding into hermithood. I predict that I will get more lazy and antisocial until next Thurs, when I am fully out of school. Then, after a week of downtime, I'll be back to my normal self and willing to be around people again.

So tonight I have to go dress shopping, memorize lines for a skit, and...

Ugh. UGH UGH UGH!

::EDIT AFTER SCHOOL::
It has been three years. Three years. And profesora still does not know my name.

How I will feel tonight and all through tomorrow

Between work, a math test, and prom dress shopping...I'm afraid you all are skeeeeeeereewwwed.

Just hope my work looks like it did at 6:30 last Friday, ne? This is the most surreal thing I have ever seen.

But on a good note, I have now managed to acheive the trilingual blog of doom!

Phase 2

booyaka again.

Note to self: Never hunt through the family medicine cabinet. There are some things better left unknown.

Taking a Poll

How many of you who read this can't see the sidebar? Have any ideas why not? Lemme guess: It shows up below my reg posts, right?

Backtalk away, bitches. ^_^

::EDIT::
Well, I think we've established it works fine in IE. So all you Apple users and whatever browser you use, speak up!

Ahhh, I didn't get called into work today. I love you, Mini-MOD. In that platonic, thanks-for-not-making-me-get-dressed way. I hate getting dressed. Just like I hate shoes. I hate dresses, too. Speaking of-- Rose talked me into going to prom. I have five days to find a dress and shoes (hate squared). There will be hell to pay. Wren+voluminous gown does not bode well for the world. I have not worn a dress since I went to prom sophomore year.

...SUBJECT CHANGE!

So, who all wants to come sailing with me? I'm making my list. (People currently not in St Louis do not count. Sorry.)

Anyone feel like riding jet skis at my graduation party? (See above parenthesis.)

o.O ...Puni Puni Poemy. Almost funnier then Dragon Half.

::EDIT BEFORE HW::
Oh! Before I forget...Biker and I got through the Mechanical Age, Stoneship Age, Spaceship Age, and are in Channelwood in Myst. It is amazing what the power of teamwork can do in a few short hours, ne?

...I must play it again on my own, tho. ^_^ Just so's I can say I beat it. Though the "we" approach was a LOT of fun.

::EDIT AFTER HW::
Well, I got the fonts to use my IME. Now I just need to figure out how to make Blogger support hiragana short of putting every damn thing I want to say up here as an image. I'd do it...but there HAS to be an easier way.

::THIRD EDIT::
みな みって ください!
にほん語 です! これは いい です!

<3恋。

("Everyone please look!"
It's Japanese! This is good!"

<3 Wren. [Ren])

BWAHAHAHA!!! I am the encoding GOD. Sorry for those of you who now have to install Japanese language packs. But you need them, anyway. Be worldly, you bastards. Oh, and as you can see, I know all of two kanji, so if any Japanese person stumbles across my blog they will laugh at my errors and etc. But, I'm only first year. So I don't mind. Plus, I'd never be able to read what they were saying. ^_^

By the way, "恋" is the character for my name. Yes, I know I'm supposed to put it in カタカナ since it's foreign. If I were to go by my full name I would put it into katakana. But Wren=ren perfectly in pronunciation, so I chose a character instead. It was my sensei's idea. (Now I want to make sure that using this when I go abroad won't offend anyone, since I'm gaijin). The character means "beloved" (comprised of parts meaning "pink" and "heart"). I also could have chosen "鎌" (among others), which meant "to temper or harden". Despite my odd desire to go with the second, I chose the first because it looked prettier and, more importantly, had fewer strokes.

Something for my ex-wife, Phase I

Booyaka.

Today...

may or may not suck. I have a 300-word vocab test fifth hour. But, I don't have to pay any attention in my classes until 4th hour, so I have time to study for it. So this is good.

But-- I forgot to eat breakfast and I have to give up my lunch hour to make up the latest plant sex test. This is bad.
I do have money for food, though, should I have time. This is good.

Tonight I have to work Hell Shift, and they're making me go in an hour earlier than usual to do it. This is bad.
But I do get to leave at nine and go home, and the fam will be out of town. This is good.

So today may or may not suck.

5.06.2004

HMM...

I found out today that I've been happily married for months now...when she requested a divorce.

She's leaving me for Uma.

*grabs katana* It's on.

Imagine this on my wall with all four panels framed

This...affects me deeply.

5.05.2004

Early Morning Exhaustion

I need a job with better hours. I don't really mind the staying up late, since I'd be up anyway, but I would love it if my shift started a few hours later so I could actually get some damn homework done. Ah well. I only do one weekday shift in a work week.

Oh. I missed an awards ceremony last night, so when I came home everyone had IMed me and either been like "they called your name, you should have been there", or "be glad you didn't go!!!" I just want to know what I got, if anything. I am glad I didn't go. Money > Ego stroking.

Just got done typing up a lab for Plants and People and am SO tired and cold. I have all my heavy blankets that are usually kicked down at my feet up around me. Course, the shower had nothing to do with my current coldness. Or the fact that I could be dressed in more than just a bedsheet. I need to find the motivation to get dressed. Too bad its not toga day at school again.

I wrote my last paper for Pegasus AP on Sunday. We already got them back; the Grammar Witch grades crazy fast. I got a C, which is what I was aiming for, really. I didn't want to put forth the effort to get the B or the A. It's nice to know that I don't have to do another one, though.

Hmmmm. I may have a paper due 6th hour today. Either that or on Friday. It may well be my last high school paper.

Yesssssssssssssssssssss...

::EDIT 1ST HOUR::
Anyone have any idea where I could get something that lets me write hiragana on me comp? Program, font, etc...

I feel the need to be evil. Such a thing would help.

Shiroi! Shiroi yami no naka! <--This worries me. VERY literal translation= "White! White darkness of (my) interior"!

::EDIT AFTER SCHOOL:: Nobody told me we had a spanish test. Oh well. Heh. I need to find a way to keep a permanent plant growing in the side pocket of my backpack. The cherry tomato looked too cute in there when I was bringing it home.

Wren's get home routine:
1) throw backpack into study.
2) Rip off random article of clothing. Or three.
3) Get iced tea and apple.
4) Flop in front of laptop.

5.03.2004

An interesting thing about my family

We seem to rely overmuch on phones for communication. By we, I mean them, because I am sure all of you know how often I actually charge my cell phone. And...when it is important, it is usually impossible to get ahold of any of us. But the point is we TRY to rely on them a lot. I have my own phone, Fam has her own, Unc has his own, then we have the home phone. None of them ever get answered when another family member calls.

Then one time Fam went out and bought all new phones for the house. These phones have a paging system. So now instead of finding someone, she just pages random phones until the person she wants picks up.

5.02.2004

WHEE!!

I'm TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may be in trouble

I don't know if it is my lack of time management ability that makes this happen, but it seems like I have to work more when I have a big paper due. Really. I feel like I never get called in when I have nothing to do or nothing planned. But oh, man...if I'm SICK and have a lot of make-up work to do, or if I'd actually like to hang out with some FRIENDS and have a LIFE for once..."I'm sorry, we need you here tonight."

I can use the money, though. But I can also use the time.

OH! I get to order my contacts today! My money came early!

4.30.2004

I shall attempt to not be angsty

I woke up this morning and decided I was totally dissatisfied with everything. I think I must have been in the wrong stage of sleep when the damn alarm went off. =) It may have also been Fam yelling at me about whether or not we should put the mail for UPS in the mailbox or if she should take it to the post office. Why does it matter? It's not due for another 15 days.

Plus, she dug through my papers to find the stuff to get it ready to mail. MY room. MY papers. MY precioussss... (second time this week, AGH!) I no longer mess with ANY of her stuff or go in her and Unc's room because she says it's an invasion of her private space. I wish she'd respect MY wishes and treat my stuff in the same way. But every time I ask her to, she gets all pissy and starts ranting about how everyone's always picking on her.

Maybe if you'd butt out, bitch, we'd pick on you less. =_=

But-- one loser worry of mine has been gotten rid of. We're gonna have wireless internet in the apartment. So really, now all I'll need is a mini-fridge and a lock and I'll never have to leave my room. My own bathroom, my laptop, my PS2, my soda/tea, and a door that will never open unless I say so. ^ ^ So...I'll stay on the internet and listen to music all day.
Or dance, since I know no one will barge in and embarass me.

Not that I'm a bad dancer. I just don't like people to come in on me while I'm doing it.

Oh! Good news! I can hear today!

Alright. Off to see how much money my job put in my account. I have contacts to buy.

4.29.2004

GAH!!

I can't hear. My right ear is completely infected and blocked up, and now my left is starting to go. In my loud classes today I had to read lips.

SUCK.

4.27.2004

Something has been bothering me about myself for a long time that I just now put my finger on. Now I just need to go off and think of a semi-understandable explanation.

::EDIT AFTER SLEEP::
Mini-MOD asked me last night if I was scared/nervous/worried about going off to college, and it set off what I wrote above. On the drive home I thought about it, and I realized what has been bothering me. Now I think I can put it into words, but I may not have time to finish right now.

I used to think that losing mom and all that trauma, etc., back when I was in 8th grade didn't mess me up. People always seem to think that teens who lose their parents have to be depressed/messed up in some way. And I didn't seem to be. I just kind of picked up the pieces and moved on.

Now that bothers me. It shouldn't have been that easy. And I think I know how I did it.

When change happens to me, I just accept it. It never seems to sink in. I don't get excited about trips, I don't get overly upset when people die. The only reason I hate moving is because it's an inconvenience and I always break something I like. Where I go and where I'm leaving don't really seem to matter. It's like every time something different comes along I go "Oh, okay..." and roll with it.

To a certain extent I guess it's good, but it still bothers me. Have I been doing this my whole life, or is this a direct result of losing mom/my hometown/my best friend so suddenly?

I have a feeling when it comes time to go to college I'm just gonna board the plane...and not really realize where I'm going.

I can't explain it any better. ::cue Comfortably Numb- Pink Floyd::

And the above makes me sound like some type of sociopath, but...I'm really not. I care a lot about the people around me and the thought of losing ANY of them makes me almost physically ill. It's just that if they do move away or something worse, something inside me shuts down, and I don't get hurt. I sometimes get this mental image of stuff flying at me, and all of the sucky stuff just goes right through and leaves nothing. I don't like that idea.

I guess the simplest way to say it is this: I don't grieve.

EDIT BEFORE H/W::
And....I just pissed of a good friend of mine. fuck. me.

On a less serious note: If I EVER hear any of the following three things ever again, my head is going to explode and then I'll kill whoever was dense enough to do it.
1) "What's Puhgett Sound?" o.O !! "Pughett" ? PUGET. Long U, morons.
2) ::said with a knowing nod:: "Oh, Puget Sound. Music school, right?" No, you lame asses. Learn geography.
3) "You're going to work for UPS"? I can't BEGIN to say how angry that makes me.

Hee. All three of those happened in a row today. So it came to mind.

Off to go beat myself up for my own stupidity.

AGH!

Woke up this morning all prepared to have a nice, relaxing comic/e-mail browse...and discovered that at some point during the wee hours of the morning Fam had piled dirty dishes on top of my laptop AND my art project.

Moral of the story? DON'T FUCKING LEAVE YOUR STUFF WHERE SHE CAN GET TO IT! Both items are fine, but...::shudder::

HMPH. Am now quite pissy. I have an urge to stay in my room all day jealously guarding my beloved things. . . but I am above such materialistic concern. (::thinking: my precioussss::)

*cough* mmmhm. Quite right.

::EDIT BEFORE WORK::

Oh. This is the second thing I woke up to today. For all those who haven't seen it before. It's the MASTER SWORD. AIIIIIE!!

SO hot.

4.26.2004

TADAAAA!!!

Here are the options for my project that's due tomorrow. I cant decide whether I'm pleased or embarassed. These are the two final options. I chose #1..with a little help because I can be sadly indecisive.

ONE

TWO

Well...I went back to the doc. I officially have a horrendus infection in my right sinus and ear. I am supposed to take massive, scary antibiotic pills, two types of allergy medicine, cough supressant, and eat lots of yogurt and drink lots of water and take long, hot showers.

In other words, I will soon be better. Assuming the antibiotics don't...uh...mess me up. >_<

BWAHAHA!! Off I go to watch the Simpson's infamous Hank Scorpio in You Only Move Twice. VWEE HEE HEE HEE...

::EDIT BEFORE HOMEWORK::

Oh, here's this, but don't click it. Any of you.

MMMMM. That is SO HOT.

4.25.2004

Know what? "I live in a mother fucking pot" is the funniest thing I have ever read. It just sounds so...bitter....

I laugh quasi-hysterically every time I see it.

New development: Now my sinuses ache and I can't hear out of my right ear. My appetite is also completely gone. From a very, very dispassionate standpoint I am amazed at how much this sickness has mutated. It seems almost alive, and literally out to get me.

I really AM going to do homework today.

::EDIT BEFORE FINALLY DOING H/W::
What I should have put in my Senior Wills: "STL- I leave you my health, since you seem to want it so badly."

That makes me smile.

::EDIT DURING BREAK FROM H/W::
"My anger has failed and become Totoro." -me

Proofs of God

In Philosophy we were handed out a sheet of 300 some-odd Proofs that God exists. While they poke fun at many aspects of Christian belief, I decided I should make a few of my own. I'll post a few of the originals up later.

Drum Machine

KAWAII!!!

Ddautta

Batman- I finally broke down and had the sushi bar green tea you gave me way back when. Allow me to say that you have made my life. With every sip, no less.

AHHHHHHHH....time to go back to sleep.

4.16.2004

Bored, cold, and lonely. The world is a harsh place. I'm sick of feeling like crap.

I wish everyone could feel how miserable this is. I was so relieved to finally be back in bed after school today that I almost started crying. And I also had no idea how much I ached until I went without codeine at school today. There are only four pills left. Why am I not feeling much improved? I guess coughing so hard that I pulled a neck muscle, thus fucking up my shoulders and neck so's I couldn't keep my head straight up had something to do with it. It's a little better, now, thanks to all the Icy Hot, but I still can't turn my neck all the way to the left or the right. And it huuuuuurts.

But! I've already made up two quizzes. Now I just wish I could find Wuthering Heights. It bothers me that I lost it so soon after getting it assigned to me.

SLAM hasn't called yet, either. Everyone must be sick of me and my wretchedness.

I am so fucking sick of soup and grilled cheese. [/angsty blog-whore]

4.15.2004

Found out why Fam's getting a new laptop. Seems as though she fell asleep with the old one on the bed, knocked it off, and "shattered" it.

My my. This is more reason to keep her away from mine.

I just had a perfectly serious conversation about whether or not masturbating with a cucumber is the plant version of bestiality.

4.13.2004

Alright. Time for a pre-drugged post. For the next 12 hours, I will be....gone. ((Damn meds.))

It seems that Fam has ordered a new computer. I don't get it. She's ruined the desktop and the pentium three we got last year, and now she wants another? To do what, exactly? She can't even get on the internet without my help! ( See the family trying to deal with technology post)

4.12.2004

This is sexy to people on morphine-related drugs.

Stereoscopic Animated Hypercube

Ooooooh, baby.

::sigh of relief::

My doctor actually came through for once. Instead of the "you're sick, go home" bit I usually get, he understood that I feel like I could just DIE my back and abs are so sore, so he gave me some Tylenol+Codeine for when I'm not at school to make the pain go away. Despite the messy longness of the previous sentence I am not on it yet. He also told me to take that evil freaking cough supressant syrup and gave me a D-hist line of pills, too.

So the moral, boys and girls? I will at least be too drugged to CARE that I'm sick. AH, thank you. Even if you ARE my stalker Pediatrician.

I have also already hidden the Ty+Cod from Fam, since the last time I got it prescribed she took it away b/c "it's addictive". This time the bitch is NOT gonna ruin my sleep. BWAHAHA.

MiniFam has strep. Bet you I get better then get sick with THAT. I would be so pissed.

Oh....h wow. The codeine is kicking in. Goodbye.

4.11.2004

There is a new vacuum cleaner sitting in the study. This is only notable b/c she has bought five new vacuums in the course of the four years I've been living with her. And that does not include the small army of the portable car vacs she's tested out and decided were not good enough.

Sasquatch came into work today to show us his new knife. OH MY FUCKING DEITY. Thirteen-inch, forged steel blade with a slight curve and some scrollwork, wooden hilt...well-balanced...agh.

I almost had an orgasm. It was the most fantastically yummy thing I have ever seen. I have no respect for anything cast metal, but if it's got a forged blade? I die. That's it. I'm gone.

...

I am a tempered weapon skank.

::EDIT TWO DAYS LATER::

Biker: and im OBESSED with his accent
Biker: of my god its soooooooooooo orgasmic
Wren: lol....I had almost had an orgasm at work yesterday.
Biker: ?
Wren: Sasquatch brought in his new forged steel 13" knife.
Biker: ah
Wren: forged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wren: ....and it was a replica of aragorn's elf blade.
Biker: he got it at that store i'll bet
Biker: we saw those there when i went with chris
Wren: he ordered it...
Wren: it was BALANCED! it was reeaaaaaaaal!!!! ::dies::
Biker: riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.............................;-)
Wren: no, no! it was hand made...somebody hammered it out! old-fashion-style! they took the time to carve a wooden hilt and BALANCE the damn thing!!!
Wren: <3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Biker: you are bizarre
Wren: it's sexy!!!
Wren: sexy I say!!

4.10.2004

A note on debate technique:

When trying to make yourself not seem like a total bitch, "Why does the kitchen look like a tornado's gone through it?" is not even remotely similar to a nicely intended "Why didn't you do it?"

The first will only get the door slammed on you, especially if that was the second sentence out of your mouth upon returning home in two days.

The second just might get you the actual explanation.

Oh, and don't EVEN fucking ask me if I want to have warm-fuzzy pseudo-housewife-cooky-with-the-mother-figure-time after all of this. And if you ever compare me to your four-year-old daughter again I'm going to hide her paci and melt all her bottles and THEN what will you do to shut her up?

4.08.2004

I have made a most shocking discovery, minasan. Last night SLAM and I were fooling around with my Chinese Astrology book, and we decided it would be fun to see what Unc and Fam were. Well, turns out they are both snakes, and BANG!- I have the third lowest compatibility with a snake. Here's what the write-up on tigers and snakes says:

These two don't have much in common and they approach life from very different angles and perspectives. The dramatic Tiger is more outspoken than the Snake, and likes to follow gut feelings instead of the head. On the contrary, the secretive snake is always suspicious of everyone, including the Tiger, and prefers to organize things in a more systematic way. Conflicts blah misunderstanding blah.

HA! This is so true! It also explains why our door is ALWAYS locked and we have this massive security system. And, of, course, why Fam insists on re-arranging the kitchen constantly.

Also: Snake is SLAM's conflict sign. No wonder he sees nothing in my family and has issues with his snake family members, as well. He's living with two of his three least compatible signs. We had a grand laugh about this.

MMMM, I hope that couscous gets done soon.

I hope I'm a bit less sick tomorrow. I'm taking meds today and forcing myself to rest so that hopefully I won't die over the weekend while I'm working. AGH. I dreamed I quite last night. I dunno. I have reached that point where I don't care and it's lovely. We'll see how much more I can take.

It would go so much better for me if I a) took my handcuffs back down from my rear-view mirror and b) stopped reading the lips of the people in the car next to me.

AGH

I love fixing other people's problems. I think I'll just BUY them a new computer. Then I'd have fewer problems. I know less than the computer guy. It shows a lot about them that they trust ME more.

Another blow to my pride

And who else should I share it with than you, Random Reader??

Well, I was in Japanese class today with all my underclassmen pets...if you will. Everything was chaotic, as usual, so people were milling about. It didn't help that El Politicito was selling candy.

That's what got me. I went for the candy cuz I was a bit hungry, and as I walked behind Orangutan Boy he whirled around and ran into me by accident. I was knocked backwards and almost fell over, I was dizzy, and within three seconds my left eye was watering. I had to go to the nurse to get an icepack for my eyebrow, which is now a bit swollen, and there will be bruising.

None of this would be an issue had his CHIN not caused the damage.

I am SO SHORT!!! And I was in a pair of my tall shoes!!! If I had been barefoot, his damn chin would have missed me completely.

XD ::joy::

Gave Batman a spaghetti squash plant today, so now am down to...14 (counting the other two that have homes right now). She chose the one I would have given her, too. He is a very happy plant who has a nice new home and will grow to produce much kids.

By the way, dahling, you'll need to pollinate the flowers. I'll tell you how when the time comes. Oh, and I'd recommend pinching the first flush of blooms so the plant can get big and strong before it starts reproducing, kay?

I adopted a cherry tomato plant today out of sympathy. I don't much like tomatos, but they "do well in clay pots", so I shall see if it survives and put in in a clay pot. It is possible that I may also pawn it off on the Self-Important Radio GOD. That is, if I can bear to have my poor plant thrown into the maw of an asshole.

Time to go to bed. I need to get used to this sleeping thing. It's nice. I may have issues going to bed tonight, tho, on account of this odd scent that has taken over my bed. It's distracting.
