Finally.
So I went to yet another doctor's appointment this morning with my regular doctor. I went in for a referral, but he actually listened to me and told me one wasn't necessary because it was so clear what I have. (Screw you, neurologist.)
He has diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. He's started me on a low-dose antidepressant to combat the nerve pain (seizure meds for my depression, depression meds for my pain...), and I am supposed to see him again in two weeks.
It's a chronic condition, yes, but at least I know what the hell is wrong.

I read up on the condition. Apparently they give you antidepressants because it boosts serotonin which means less pain. Apparently the average time it takes a patient to get correctly diagnosed with this condition is five years, so you're lucky that your primary physician recognized it relatively early (in spite of evil neurologist). Having a chronic condition that basically equals incurable pain is not a fun prospect, but I suppose it could have been much worse, and I agree, it's preferable to know what's wrong.
Must be a relief to know the answer. Here's hoping the treatment takes finally. Now science just needs to figure out what causes it.
The five years thing is a result of many doctors (of whom I suspect evil neurologist is one) not believing it is a real condition.
Luckily, in the past few years, enough research has been done to change minds.
And, keep in mind this is something I have had most of my life. It's just luck that a flare-up occurred during a bout of carpal tunnel. Ever since I was little I haven't been able to do things like smooth sheets on beds because the feel of the fabric hurt, and I was infamous for saying "OW" every time someone touched me.
My mom just thought I was a wuss. XD
Is it a good or bad thing to know that what people thought were just weird Wren quirks are caused by a medical condition?
Yeah, I wasn't expecting "no touchy" to be an actual medical condition. Now I feel like a jerk.
What he said >.>
Also, I've been dinking around with Oblivion recently since I moved and have no internet, any way I could get you to list the mods you use? The look aMAZing.
Sure! As soon as I have my mods arranged to my satisfaction, I'll make a nice big mod post.
And guys, don't feel bad. It's still a Wren quirk!
Oh man, I'm so glad your regular doc had a CLUE. I only vaguely know about fibromyalgia, so must read more about it. Crazy, I hadn't heard about it for a long time, then saw a commercial on tv the day after I read your post about how it is often misdiagnosed (like maddo said) for a long time and that people really suffer. I hope the treatment goes well. Keep us updated!
